Helping Clients Get Ready for Back to School:
The Ins and Outs for Families and Students

As the easy days of summer come to an end, your clients need to get themselves and their kids back into school day routines. Offering Back to School sessions to your clients is a great way to set them up for success for the upcoming school year! Learn the ins and outs of creating family routines that hold the school year together from family organizing experts! From morning routines and tried and true out-the-door tips, to mealtime routines and the importance of planning and prepping the night before. Get guidelines for setting up fool-proof homework centers and creating homework routines for even the youngest of students, as well as strategies to help with distractions & motivating students, that work for all learning styles. Come join us in getting Back to School!


Esther Simon, MSW
Traditional Home Organizer

Esther Simon, MSW has been a NAPO member since 1998 and a Golden Circle member since 2003. During her 20 years as a professional organizer she has been organizing family homes and teaching time management to individuals through her many classes in the larger Los Angeles area. Her expertise has been based on her personal experience raising seven children and supervising her 17 grandchildren.  Having extensive knowledge in social work and interpersonal relationships, crisis intervention and counseling, Esther has combined her talents into a home organizer.  She walks the talk in her own life and passes on her years of knowledge and experience to her clients, helping them de-clutter their lives and run a productive efficient home, emphasizing the important of role modeling to teach their family organizing skills.  She has helped with major moves, and unpacking along with daily time management systems.  Her belief is that the more organized your home is the more productive and stress free your home and personal life will also be.  She continues to lecture and give workshops on all aspects of the home, including kitchens, housework, raising babies/children and time management.  She has been interviewed for several magazine articles and radio shows and has presented at NAPO-LA , NAPO-Virtual Chapter and recently at the NAPO 2018 Conference. She lives with her husband in Santa Monica, with most of her children and grandchildren near by. When Esther is not organizing she enjoys needlepoint.

Deborah Kawashima, CPO
Creative Organizer

As a mom and certified professional organizer, Deborah Kawashima, CPO of Creative Organizer provides hands-on organizing for families, specializing in working with kids and students. Her creative background as a Children’s wear designer adds a fresh point of view to being an organizing consultant. Growing up, Deborah’s parents owned Montessori schools and this natural sense of order influences her approach to organizing, especially when working with kids & teens. Deborah has also taught time management & organizational courses at UCLA extension’s Pathway (a program for college-age students with developmental challenges) from 2009 – 2013. An active member of NAPO, she co-founded and was national committee chair (2005-2010) for NAPO in the Schools, received the 2006 Volunteer of the Year Award at the first annual Los Angeles Organizing Awards, and in 2007 received the NAPO Innovator Award for her work on NAPO in the Schools. In 2011 she served on the LA Organizing Awards Committee as the Graphic Design Coordinator, creating the award’s new logo and program. Deborah is also a member of NAPO Virtual Chapter and is currently the Educational Chair for the POLA Committee. Deborah lives in Studio City with her husband and two sons, one in college and other just graduated from Caltech. When not organizing, she is working on a novel.

Marcy Melton is enjoying her 22nd year as a Professional Organizer.  She is among the 2007 inaugural group of Certified Professional Organizers.   Her business, Bullseye Organizing Solutions, is based on the Westside of Los Angeles and specializes in Financial Organizing -- bookkeeping and tax preparation, filing systems, paper management, archiving, health insurance filing and medical payments, as well as time management.  The majority of her regular clients have been with her for almost two decades.  

Marcy has been a member of NAPO-National and NAPO-Los Angeles since 1996.  Marcy enjoys improving her Professional Organizing knowledge and skills through local NAPO meetings and attending twenty of the last twenty-one NAPO National Conferences. Marcy is also an active member of NAPO’s Golden Circle, both on a national and local level.
