2010 Nomination Procedures and Categories

About the Organizing Awards:

The Los Angeles Organizing Awards aka the “Awards” are presented annually to honor outstanding achievements and contributions to the organization and productivity profession, and to recognize professional organizers, organizing retailers, organizing products services & resources, charities, technology providers, authors and the media.  

The Los Angeles Organizing Awards are produced and presented by the National Association of Professional Organizers, Los Angeles Chapter (NAPO-LA), a not-for-profit organization, having met the IRS Tax Code 501(c)3 requirements. The following nomination procedures and categories have been approved by the NAPO-LA Board of Directors.

Presentation of Awards:

Awards shall be conferred Saturday, January 30, 2010 at a public ceremony in Los Angeles, California. A total of 23 awards will be presented.

Nomination Deadline:

All category nominations shall take place online at napola.org, organizingawards.com and losangelesorganizingawards.com for approximately 45 days, beginning August 15, 2009 and closing at midnight September 30, 2009.

Call for Nominations:

Nominations may be made in any or all categories from the categories listed below. Self nominations are accepted as well as being nominated by someone else. Multiple category nominations may be made in each category. It is highly recommended to enter all of the required contact information under each category for each nominee.  Any business with a relevant product or service is eligible to be nominated, to be a finalist, and to win, regardless of affiliation or relationship with NAPO-LA and NAPO.

Nominations are open to the general public, NAPO-LA Chapter Members and NAPO National Members, in all categories and shall be nominated in an open, public process. However, only NAPO-LA Chapter Members may vote for special categories, including “Most Innovative Organizer” and “Most Supportive or Organizer-Friendly Charity” as listed below.

Nominations Review and Selection of Finalists:

Upon close of the Call for Nominations, a Nominating Committee will confidentially review all submissions in the period beginning October 1, 2009 and concluding October 14, 2009. At the conclusion of the submissions review, the Nominating Committee will name up to five (5) "finalists” in each respective category. Each of those five (5) named finalists will be placed on the Official 2010 Los Angeles Organizing Awards Ballot.
All nominees (and finalists) placed on the ballot must be approved by the Nomination Committee, the decisions of which are final and entirely within NAPO-LA's discretion.

Those individuals or organizations not selected to be a finalist for the current year are requested to resubmit for the following nomination period.

Finalist Communications:

All finalists will be informed of their status via email or by telephone using the contact information provided during the Call for Nominations. Reasonable efforts will be made to contact the appropriate individual for each organization if contact information is not received or entered. Selection of finalists will also be made public on this website Thursday, October 15, 2009. Finalists may mount a campaign for votes beginning October 15, 2009 by sending visitors to napola.org or organizingawards.com.

Voting will be open starting October 15, 2009 through December 15, 2009

Media Announcements:

Appropriate media announcements may be made throughout the nominating, finalist, and recipient phases of the Awards. The NAPO-LA President or their designee will initiate these announcements.
