What's Next?:
Moving Through COVID Into the 'New' Normal

Roundtable Discussion with the Following Panelists:

Melinda Grace, Melinda Grace Organizing

Janice Rostron, Just Focus and Reorganize

Nadine Levy, Management 180° Consulting

In the past 18 months, we have been thrown into a ‘new’ reality that has affected us and our businesses in ways we never imagined.  Join us in September as we hear from a talented board of panelists, with a range of experiences and business models, who will first share with us some background on them and their businesses, how COVID affected them and what their plans are for the future.  We will then open the floor for members to ask questions and foster discussion about how the current pandemic has impacted us personally and professionally and how we plan to proceed into the ‘new normal’.  We are looking forward to the insight and experience shared by our panelists and our chapter members.

Melinda Grace
Melinda Grace Organizing

Melinda remembers reading Mari Kondo’s book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing and feeling her heartbeat out of her chest when Marie Kondo talked about spending her nights as a kid organizing her parent’s stuff. Melinda thought “I’m not strange! That’s me! That’s what I did!” Instead of going out partying or seeing the latest film, yep, she organized her closet, her parent’s closets, junk room, pantry, and refrigerators. At that moment, Melinda realized wow, this is a thing and this could be her thing! This could be the way she makes a small difference in the world, by helping people organize their possessions, clutter, and spaces so that they can make a difference in their world. And so, a year ago Melinda started Melinda Grace Organizing.  Melinda has over 15+ years in the business world working in Non-Profit, HR, Special Event Planning, Admin, & Digital Marketing & Advertising all while pursuing a career as an actress, writer & producer. Melinda incorporates all of her past jobs & skills into her work to offer her clients the most professional & creative organizing experience possible.

Janice Rostron
Just Focus and Reorganize

Janice Rostron (formerly Reid) has been the owner/operator of Just Focus and Reorganize since 2015. But, like most Professional Organizers, she has been organizing the spaces around her for as far back as she can remember--just ask her family, friends, former roommates, and colleagues! Janice played guitar for over 20 years. She has performed throughout California and has recorded two full-length albums and one EP (during which time she earned the moniker "Janice F'n Reid" a.k.a. "JFR"). Janice received a B.A. in Legal Studies (with a Minor in Music) from UC Berkeley. She earned an M.Ed. and a Multiple Subject teaching credential from UCLA. She worked as a public elementary school teacher for 8 years before deciding to pursue a career in Professional Organizing. This past year, she earned an A.A. in Accounting from Los Angeles City College. Janice is an active member of NAPO. She has earned Specialist Certificates in Workplace Productivity and Team Productivity. She is the leader of NAPO’s Environmentally-Conscious Organizers Special Interest Group. She is a regular attendee of the Los Angeles chapter’s Book Club meetings and she served as the chapter’s Treasurer for the 2016-2017 term. Because one is never “done” learning, Janice just joined the Institute for Challenging Disorganization and completed the Level I Certificate last month.

Janet Fishman

While Janet is a generalist organizer, she specializes in paper decluttering and management. She serves for her clients as a combination of organizer and daily money manager She absolutely loves sorting through tons of paper, employing retention guidelines, creating filing systems, calling companies to ascertain the existence of accounts, and advocating for her clients when she finds fraud on credit card statements or unclaimed property. With a juris doctor law degree, Janet worked in the legal field as a corporate trainer of computerized legal research for over 25 years while raising four children as a single mother (triplets + 1).   In addition to being a member of NAPO for 10 years, she is also a member of AADMM-the American Association of Daily Money Managers, ICD-the Institute for Challenging Disorganization, and The Photo Managers (formerly APPO).
